A man was wounded Monday night when gunfire erupted at a Goose Creek apartment complex, police have reported.
Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to S&K Apartments, 107 Carolina Ave., following a report of the shooting, according to Lt. Karen Nix.
Bryant Kinsey, 33, was found slumped over a recliner in one unit at the complex, an incident report stated.
Blood stained the man's clothing, police said. Paramedics rushed him to Trident Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
A neighbor told investigators that she was asleep on her couch when she heard a loud bang. She didn't think much of the noise until she received a phone call informing her that her neighbor had been shot, according to the report.
A suspect in the shooting has not been identified, Nix said.
State Law Enforcement Division records show Kinsey has a lengthy criminal history. He pleaded guilty in 2002 to cocaine distribution and was sentenced to an eight-year suspended sentence with three years probation, court records show. He was convicted in 2005 and 2008 on habitual traffic offender charges and pleaded guilty in 2013 to criminal domestic violence.
Kinsey's most recent conviction came in February when he pleaded guilty to fraud. He received a suspended sentence with three years probation on that charge, according to court records.
