ORANGEBURG, S.C. - Supporters of South Carolina State University are rallying to show their support for the state's only historically black public university.
Hundreds are expected to march through Orangeburg on Saturday for a rally in front of the university's student center. Members of the Orangeburg Alumni chapter have organized the event to encourage statewide support for South Carolina State.
The university said in a release that President Thomas Elzey, Student Government President Aaron Russell and others are speaking.
The school has been working to reduce an $18 million deficit
