GREENVILLE, S.C. - A man has been sentenced to life in prison for shooting a Taylors woman to death, then setting her house on fire and stealing her car.
Local media report that 43-year-old Billy Wayne Burch was sentenced Wednesday after a jury found him guilty of charges including murder, first-degree burglary and arson.
The body of 63-year-old Alice Barber Owenby was found in her burned home in February 2012. Authorities ruled the death a homicide after determining Owenby had been shot several times.
At his parents' home, deputies have said they found a pair of boots belonging to Burch that had Owenby's blood on them.
