The S.C. Research Authority's funding arm has invested $250,000 in a computer-generated animation business.
SC Launch today announced the deal with Charleston-based Moondog Animation Studio on Monday.
The company creates and distributes content for adults and children, and it's starting development on its first feature film. The project is expected to bring more than 150 technical jobs to South Carolina, SC Launch said.
The firm is working with Clemson University's Digital Design program to hire recent graduates.
"We are excited to be a part of the SC Launch program and look forward to increasing high-tech jobs in Charleston," Moondog Animation CEO Bryan Ransom said in a statement. On its website, the company said its goal is "to offer a positive alternative to a demanding audience by creating substantial and life changing animation content that is highly entertaining."
State incorporation records show that the company was formed in early 2013 in Aiken.
