MARION, S.C. - Two men will serve life in prison for their parts in a 2012 drive-by shooting in Marion County that left a man dead.
Area media outlets report a county jury deliberated about 90 minutes on Thursday before finding Blaton Wakeem Smith and Shaheed Hayes guilty of murder and other charges in the April 2012 incident.
Prosecutors say the two fired into a truck occupied by 31-year-old Derrick Wilson. They say there was bad blood between Wilson and the defendants.
Authorities say that both Smith and Hayes had long records including assault and weapons charges and Circuit Judge Craig Brown said he considered that in sentencing.
