A woman was shot and wounded Friday night when a gun was fired during a traffic stop in Ladson, authorities said.
About 9:30 p.m., a deputy with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office pulled over a 2014 Ford Fusion on College Park Road. sheriff's spokesman Dan Moon said in a news release.
While the car was stopped, a shooting occurred inside the car, Moon said. The deputy was not involved in the shooting.
A 21-year-old woman was wounded, Moon said. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear to have been life-threatening, he said. The woman was released from the hospital.
A passenger, Jemane Antone Sanders, 27, of Brookstone Way in Summerville, was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant, Moon said.
The Sheriff's Office asked the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate the shooting, Moon said.

Charges in relation to the shooting are pending the outcome of the investigation, Moon said.
