After the big shopping weekend we just had, it's hard to imagine hitting the stores again. Although tax-free weekend may be over, many store sales are not.
There's still plenty of things that will be cheaper than any other time of year right now, and some of them may surprise you.
Here's a round-up of items you can be sure to find deals on throughout the month.
As September draws nearer, many retailers will be moving piles of clothes to their clearance sections, so this is the time to strike those stores you typically don't shop in unless there's a good sale.
For me, that includes J. Crew and sister store Madewell, Anthropologie and Ann Taylor LOFT.
Several other stores in the Tanger Outlet Center such as New York & Co., Polo Ralph Lauren and Talbots have sales on entire store inventories from 25-60 percent off.
There's no shortage of cheap home goods aimed at college freshmen right now, but that doesn't mean those are the only decor deals out there.
World Market, for example, has marked down its living room furniture by up to 50 percent.
They also have some inexpensive throw pillows, rugs starting at $16, and up to 50 percent off of framed wall art.
At Lowe's, Allen + Roth items such as lamps and shelves are 10-20 percent off.
Hotels in summer destinations such as Miami and Las Vegas will have some extra-low prices on room nights starting this month, according to Dealnews.com. If you need a quick getaway, the website says rooms in Myrtle Beach will be 20-40 percent cheaper than usual around Aug. 24.
Also, New York tends be to be a bit cheaper right now. A quick search on Priceline.com found several hotel rooms in the financial district for about $160 per night toward the end of the month, about 15-30 percent cheaper than usual.
Brace for Labor Day
Remember how Black Friday sales last year started on Thanksgiving Day, and back-to-school sales started just after Fourth of July?
The same may be true for Labor Day as well this year.
At the end of the month, you should expect to see sweeping markdowns on items such as grills, swimming pool accessories and patio furniture.
While many of these items may be marked down right now, it's best to wait a couple of weeks to get the absolute best prices.
