State Sen. Vincent Sheheen, the Democratic candidate for governor, told Horry County teachers on Wednesday that he'd like to see educators more involved in making policies that affect public schools across the state, according to a story posted on The State's website.

Sheheen spent about an hour with six area teachers at a law office in Myrtle Beach. He was visiting the area to talk about how to improve public education in South Carolina, the story said.

According to Sheheen's campaign, he is scheduled to hold a similar roundtable discussion with teachers and parents in Charleston today.
