National Lighthouse Day

What: Join the National Park Service for an open house at the Sullivan's Island Lighthouse. Tour the historic boathouse, quarters cupola and grounds. The interior of the lighthouse will be closed for safety, but there will be children's activities and water safety displays from the Coast Guard and the Sullivan's Island Fire and Rescue.

Mermaids & Manatees Kayak Tour

What: These kid-friendly late-summer tours focus on the myths associated with manatees and mermaids. Attendees will explore the salt marsh estuary by kayak, learn about the abundant natural wildlife and rice history, while searching for a summering manatee through Shem Creek and into Charleston Harbor.
