Trace Crowe of Bluffton and Anne Taylor Hough of Spartanburg won their respective divisions Wednesday in the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea golf tournament played at the Country Club of Charleston.

Crowe shot even-par 71 for a 36-hole score of 137 and finished one shot in front of his Hilton Head Christian teammate Bryson Nimmer and Country Club of Charleston golfer Wil Sheppard. Jamie Wilson of Mount Pleasant tied for eighth at 142.

Crowe, who is headed to play for Auburn, entered the final round with a one-shot lead over Nimmer. He bogeyed 2, 3 and 4 and then birdied three of the next four holes to make the turn at even par. He parred his final 10 holes.

Nimmer birdied 17 to tie Crowe for the lead but bogeyed 18 after hitting his approach into a greenside bunker.

Sheppard made a run for the lead, making birdies at 12 and 14 to get to 2-under for the second straight day, but came up one shot short.

"We (Crowe and Nimmer) didn't putt very well," Crowe said. "We were grinding it out. I had a couple of three-putts but I can't complain. "

Hough, who finished second in the 2013 Junior Azalea, shot 1-under 70 Wednesday and finished the tournament at 146, one stroke better than Bishop England golfer Kathleen Sumner. Annika Bovender of Mount Pleasant finished eighth at 153.

Hough was 1-under on the front nine with a bogey on the first hole and birdies on 8 and 9. She birdied 11 and 15 on the closing nine with bogeys at 13 and 16.

"I made more birdies but I hit it about the same," said Hough, who is headed to play at Virginia Tech.

"I tried to limit my mistakes," she said. "I hit it out of bounds on 13 but I was able to get up and down for bogey."
