Dorchester County officials suspect a Reevesville man drowned Sunday while fishing with his cousin.

Mitchell Syphertt, 55, of Independence School Road, was found dead Tuesday, according to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet. He died beneath a bridge on Harley Road, Nisbet said.

Syphertt's cousin last saw the man while fishing, he reported to investigators.

The pair separated as the cousin walked farther down the creek. When he returned, Syphertt was gone, Nisbet said.

Syphertt's body was found on Tuesday. He appeared to have drowned, Nisbet said.

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
