Former Porter-Gaud standout Brent Demarest won the USA Triathlon Junior National Championship on Saturday in West Chester, Ohio.
Demarest finished the course -- including a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike ride and a 5-K run, in a time of 54 minutes, 56.8 seconds.
Tony Morales of Lexington was eighth in 56:27.9, and Hayden Dibona of Mount Pleasant was 21st in 58:16.1.
Demarest will represent Team USA at the Junior World Championships on Aug. 29 in Edmonton, Alberta. He will run cross-country and track at Virginia beginning this fall.
