Chicken Salad Chick, an Alabama-based chicken salad specialist with more than a dozen locations across the Southeast, has cancelled plans to open its first Charleston store in the old Andolini's on Wentworth Street.
Instead, a spokeswoman says, the chain has selected 400 Azalea Boulevard in Summerville as the site of its area launch. The restaurant is projected to open in October.
"We had some unexpected changes come up with our location on Wentworth Street," says Ali Rauch, adding that franchisees Julie Beville and Michelle Singleton are seeking a new downtown address for a 2015 opening.
Under the auspices of SingBev Hospitality, Beville and Singleton are already operating Chicken Salad Chick stores in Greenville, Lexington and Columbia; their first of 10 announced Charlotte stores is slated to open next week.
According to Chicken Salad Chick's website, the restaurant was created by Stacy Brown after a county health department halted her home-based chicken salad enterprise. Its current menu features 15 different chicken salads. To learn more, visit chickensaladchick.com.
