Eight Charleston restaurant chefs will board eight area food trucks to help create a Charleston Wine + Food Festival ticket launch party that the festival's director describes as an example of "the beauty and innovation that can stem from collaboration and a joyful sense of community."
Gillian Zettler, overseeing her first festival since being hired last year, says the Aug. 27 kick-off event at The Power House will reflect the ambiance she aims to create at the 2015 festival.
"The fun, friendly and laid-back spirit we plan to cultivate at the upcoming festival is what we hope to bring to our ticket launch celebration," Zettler says.
The evening's chef pairings include Kevin Johnson with AutoBanh's Jeanine and Thomas Cafaro; Jeremiah Bacon with Roti Rolls' Cory Burke; and Jacques Larson with Tim Logan and Claire Massingill of Outta My Huevos.
And while it's foolhardy to try to forecast event food deliciousness in advance, the partnerships between Mike Lata and Roadside Seafood's Sean Mendes and Ken Vedrinski and Refueler's Mobile Cafe's Jessie Stament sound especially promising.
In addition to snacks, the party will feature live music, cocktails, beer and wine.
The ticket launch, which serves as the official schedule release for the March 4-8 festival, runs from 7-10 p.m. (If it rains, the whole shebang will shift to the following Wednesday.) The Power House is at 975 N. Hobson Ave., North Charleston.
Tickets to the event are priced at $50, a 25 percent increase from last year. To purchase, visit charlestonwineandfood.com.
