The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
The heat index is expected to reach about 110 degrees as a result of humidity and temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s.
This type of heat couls cause serious illness. The National Weather Service suggests that anyone who must be outdoors to drink plenty of fluids, wear lightweight clothing and stay out of the direct sun when possible.
