Steve French, the Libertarian Party candidate for governor of South Carolina, says a caller offered to pay him and his campaign manager a total of $30,000 last week if he would drop out of the race, according to a story posted today on the Anderson Independent Mail's website.
French said the call came hours after a poll showed Republican Gov. Nikki Haley holding a slim lead over Democratic state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, the story said.
