It's evidently culinary anniversary season, with another two local restaurants offering celebratory deals:
Sweeney's is turning one this weekend, and co-owner Jim Sweeney reports it's been a year chockfull of adjustments: "We have listened to our both our cheerleaders and our critics and have added sound-proofing panels; lights on the patio and created menus where a blending of Southern dishes with regional American influences come together using great local ingredients," he writes. "Daily Blue Plate lunch specials, a new bar snack menu and happy hours have been added."
There's also a new chef in charge of the kitchen, although Sweeney didn't return a message seeking more information about the contributions of Adam Cloyes, who previously served as Oak Steakhouse's chef de cuisine.
To mark the anniversary, Sweeney's is offering alcohol at half-price tonight and tomorrow night. "ALL alcohol," Sweeney stresses. The only caveat is customers have to purchase food too. For its seventh anniversary, Fish Restaurant is restoring its once-beloved lunch service for just one day. On Aug. 7, the Upper King restaurant is offering a "$10 menu of Asian-inspired wraps paired with side items like tomato-cucumber salad, paprika chips and edamame and lentils."
