Rascal took the first-day lead in the Edisto Marina Billfish Tournament Thursday and solidified its spot atop the South Carolina Governor's Cup Billfishing Series.
Rascal, owned by Norman Pulliam and Foster McKissick and captained by Mark Rogers, released the only blue marlin of the day along with a sailfish for 800 points.
Second place with three sailfish releases and 600 points belongs to Miss Wy, owned by Ed Holder and captained by Matt Wilkinson. My 3 Sons, owned by Hunter Edwards and captained by Michael Mattson, is third with 200 points for one sailfish release.
Rascal entered the Edisto tournament with 2,675 points, 200 ahead of Mister Pete which released a sailfish Thursday, and Syked Out, which did not fish Thursday. Petrel, in fourth place with 2,275 points, also did not fish Thursday.
The tournament continues through Saturday with boats allowed to fish two out of three days, captain's choice. Eight of the 20 boats entered will fish Friday. Friday's weigh-in runs from 5-8 p.m. while Saturday's weigh-in will run from 5-7 p.m.
Daymaker took the dolphin category lead with a 27.2-pound catch. No wahoo or tuna were weighed.
