The family of Tristen Henderson Allen has turned over the search for the missing 18-year-old diver to public agencies according to a statement released Wednesday morning.

The combined search teams had reached the conclusion that he is not likely to be found alive. Government agencies will continue to look for evidence in the disappearance.

Allen was last seen July 12 while diving with his father, attorney Sam Allen, about 13 miles off the coast of Folly Beach, authorities said. The father and son surfaced together, but Tristen apparently slipped back underwater soon afterward.

Community members contributed to the "Tristen Allen Search Fund" in the days following Allen's disappearance. Any remaining donations will be given to a number of charities and community organizations, including Student Faith Missions, YoungLife and James Island Charter High School Youth Athletic Programs, the release said.

The family will continue to collect additional donations for charity under the fund's new name, "All That is #41," alluding to the teen's football jersey number.

Family and friends will honor Allen's life Aug. 3 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at James Island Charter High School.
