Nothing particularly negative has happened within the Clemson or South Carolina football programs since January. But the perception in Las Vegas is "sell."
Current betting odds to win the national championship within the new four-team playoff system: 33-1 for South Carolina and 66-1 for Clemson, according to the Bovada web site.
In January the odds were 25-1 for each team.
The current top five: Florida State and Alabama 11-2, Oregon 7-1, Oklahoma 9-1 and Auburn 10-1.
In the SEC, Alabama is an 8-5 favorite to win the conference championship followed by South Carolina, Georgia and Auburn, all tied at 5-1.
In the ACC, defending national champion Florida State is a 4-11 favorite, followed by Clemson, Louisville and North Carolina, all at 10-1.
