MYTRLE BEACH, S.C. - Myrtle Beach will be hosting a stand down event for veterans.
Nonprofit groups are announcing Tuesday that Stand Down at the Beach will be held September 19 at the U.S. Army Reserve building. Organizers say they hope to provide services and information to an estimated 100 homeless veterans during the event.
It's part of a national program that began in 1988 in San Diego to help veterans with housing, jobs and other services.
