Showers and thunderstorms.

That's the forecast for most of the week in the Charleston area, the National Weather Service said Monday, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Folks will see a 70 percent chance of more rain Monday, with the main threat for storms coming after 11 a.m. Up to three-quarters of an inch could fall during the day on top of what already fell overnight. The Weather Service reported 0.49 inches of rain late Sunday night in downtown Charleston.

Cloud cover will linger Tuesday, when the chance of rain is pegged at 40 percent.

Gradual clearing is expected throughout the week, with partly sunny skies on Wednesday and Thursday and, finally, mostly sunny skies Friday.

Each day will feature a risk of storminess, according to the Weather Service.
