A helicopter crew with the Coast Guard evacuated an ill fisherman from a commercial vessel 45 miles east of Bulls Bay Sunday morning.
Crew members of the fishing vessel Warrior III sent out a distress call at around 8:30 a.m. after a fisherman onboard reportedly began suffering from chest pains and stomach complications, according to a news release. A helicopter crew was dispatched just after 9:30 a.m. and evacuated the fisherman who was flown to Air Facility Charleston.
The fisherman, who was in stable condition, was taken by ambulance to receive further medical treatment.
