Living by the ocean brings up thoughts of frolicking in the water or playing in the sand. Images of stylish digs with elegant surroundings don't necessarily arise.

Yet a residence for sale at Folly Beach can boast of hardwood floors, built-in bookshelves, stained glass in the second floor stairway and "a living room spacious enough for the baby grand piano," says Andie Weathers, listing agent with Carolina One Real Estate.

The property, at 606 W. Beach Court, sits along a tree-lined locale in a semi-private neighborhood. "It's a great location," she says. "On West Beach Court, there's a cul de sac on each end. You don't have drive-through traffic."

At the same time, the residence stands just a block or two from the Atlantic. "It's very convenient to get to the ocean," she says.

Built in 1998, the 2,781-square-foot house lists for $725,361.

Weathers says the custom-designed residence has had just one owner. "They enjoy entertaining family and kids."

While well-appointed with fireplaces and 10-foot ceilings, the house sports a "very spacious floor plan," she says. It also touts a large kitchen with "huge" island.

Meanwhile, the property backs up to woodlands and a tidal creek with access to the Folly River by kayak. Deer, and great blue and white herons, are among the wildlife that can been seen from the house.

The residence shows off three all-carpeted bedrooms, two full baths and a half-bath. "There's so much room," Weathers says. "If someone wanted to add a fourth bedroom, it could be done."

In her listing, Weathers describes the two story, elevated home as offering "lots of natural light." There are bathrooms with tiled floors, spacious dining room, combination sunroom-family room, large pantry and laundry room. A porch with gas grill can be reached from the kitchen and family-sunroom. Three underneath garage bays distinguish the ample parking and storage areas.

"Enjoy the breeze from the front porch, including the corner side of the home, with plenty of room for sitting and outside dining," she says.

Other standout features consist of "beautiful paint colors (and) wall stenciling created by hand."

Among other perks are spacious bedrooms - all upstairs with "closets, ceiling fans, and views of the yard and tidal creek below." Notably, the master suite complete with sitting area encompasses close to 400 square feet of "comfortable living space with outside access to your private porch," she says.

Meanwhile, the stylish master bathroom boasts an "oversized marble shower, corner jetted tub, marble counter and vanity, and large mirror."A second upstairs bathroom serves up a tiled shower and tub surround.

Weathers sums up the property's dual benefits of beach and seclusion this way: "Close to all of Folly's fun activities, but, tucked away to enjoy your privacy in this tropical paradise."

The house sits near the middle of West Beach Court. Heading south, take the James Island Connector to Folly Road and turn left. Follow the road for about eight miles to Folly Beach. Once on the beach, turn right at the traffic light onto West Ashley Avenue. Make a right at 6th Street. Then, turn left at West Beach Court. On the right is 606 W. Beach Court.
