A Berkeley County woman died early today from injuries she suffered Friday night when she was struck by a pickup truck while walking near her home, authorities said.
Lance Cpl. Judd Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol said the woman was walking southbound on Trojan Road, also known as S.C. Highway 45, about 10:45 p.m. when a 2009 Ford pickup truck, which also was going southbound, struck her.
The driver of the pickup, a 61-year-old man, was not injured, Jones said. The driver was wearing a seat belt.
Berkeley County Coroner William Salisbury said the woman, 27-year-old Inetha Pelote of Cross, was rushed to Medical University Hospital, where she died early Saturday morning.
The death is being investigated by the Coroner's Office and the Highway Patrol. No charges have been filed.
