A fire on Poindexter Road in North Charleston displaced a family of five Saturday afternoon.
The neighborhood is off Ashley Phosphate Road.
The fire was reported just after 4:30 p.m., North Charleston Fire Department spokeswoman Bianca Bourbeau said. Crews from North Charleston and the Ashley River Fire Department put out the fire.
The house was moderately damaged, although there was a significant amount of smoke throughout the house, she said.
Red Cross volunteers were assisting the family.
