A man was rescued from a sinking boat near Kiawah Island Saturday.
The Coast Guard was notified at 1:20 p.m. that a 31-foot Sea Ray vessel had run aground and was sinking at the entrance of the North Edisto River. A helicopter hoisted the man from the boat. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Medical University Hospital. The vessel then sank.
A crew aboard a 29-foot special-purpose Coast Guard boat was on scene monitoring for potential pollution.
