The heavy rain that drenched Mount Pleasant and the Isle of Palms Wednesday afternoon remains a threat, according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy rain was moving south from the Northwoods Mall area at 8 p.m., along a line from Hanahan to the Naval Weapons Station, according to the weather service.

A flood advisory was in effect until 9:30 p.m. for Northwoods Mall, Midland park, Beresford, Hanahan, Charleston International Airport, the Don Holt Bridge and the Naval Weapons Station.

The system could bring another 1-2 inches of rain and cause significant ponds on roadways. Low-lying areas could also flood, according to the weather.
