HOOVER, Ala. - Stephen Garcia never appeared at SEC Media Days as a South Carolina quarterback but is here this week covering the Gamecocks - and other SEC teams - as a blogger.

Garcia is wearing a ballcap backward, his long hair flowing to his shoulders, while working for the web site "Saturday Down South."

Which is just fine with South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier.

"As soon as I see Stephen I'm going to tell him 'It looks like you've joined Duck Dynasty instead of the media,'" Spurrier said Tuesday.

Spurrier went on to say that Garcia "is a wonderful guy."

Garcia went 20-14 as a Gamecocks starter, and beat Clemson twice. But he was suspended five times and kicked off the team midway through his senior year in 2011. Garcia is on the roster of the Arena Football League's Tampa Bay Storm.

"He had some issues (in Columbia), and that's unfortunate," Spurrier said. "That game against (2010) Alabama, he completed 17 out of 20 in a 35-21 game and they came in No. 1 in the country. It's still a game they all talk about there in Columbia and he had the game of his life that game. So he did a lot of good there and we all wish him the best."
