North Charleston police have arrested one suspect and are working to identify another in connection with a robbery and carjacking late Sunday.

According to police spokesman Spencer Pryor, authorities responded shortly before midnight to the Circle K gas station at Dorchester Road and West Montague Avenue. Two men robbed the store at gunpoint, Pryor said, striking a clerk in the head before stealing cash and several packs of Newport cigarettes.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was stolen from a man at a nearby BB&T bank ATM, according to police. Investigators later found the vehicle crashed into a home on Westview Street, Pryor said.

The suspects were gone when police arrived, Pryor said, but they left behind a BB gun and the cigarettes that were stolen from the Circle K.

Investigators arrested Keyon White, 17, at his Napoleon Drive home and charged him with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm and hit-and-run, Pryor said.

White was held Monday at the Charleston County jail pending a bond hearing.

Police are working to identify the second suspect, Pryor said. The incident remains under investigation, he said.
