Thunderstorms might bring heavy rainfall and waterspouts to parts of the Lowcountry on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The main threat will come after 10 a.m. Forecasters called for scattered showers and storms in the Charleston area and a high of 88 degrees on Friday.

The storms could bring gusty winds and isolated waterspouts to coastal communities throughout daylight and evening hours Friday, the Weather Service said.

Up to a half-inch of rain is possible with higher amounts in thunderstorms. The total chance of rain is 50 percent.

Partly cloudy skies and a threat of showers will linger into the weekend, with a 30 percent chance Saturday and a 20 percent chance on Sunday.

Saturday night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
