The 38th annual Cooper River Bridge Run and Walk is more than eight months away, but everyone can help choose what its design will looks like this weekend.
For the second year, the Bridge Run is letting the public cast votes in helping select the official T-shirt and poster designs for next year's race, which will be held on March 28, 2015.
The design that gets the most votes will be considered "The People's Choice," one of five designs that judges will choose from at a judging on Wednesday evening in Mount Pleasant.
In all, artists, including both adults and youth, submitted more than 60 designs this summer for consideration.
Assistant Race Director Tami Varn says part of the reason The People Choice isn't the selection is because some designs don't work well on the limited space of a T-shirt.
The design selected by judges will be featured on 2015 Bridge Run T-shirts, posters and all distributed promotional and informational materials for the race. The winner will receive $1,000, 100 posters, 24 T-shirts, and his or her work will become a part of the history of a race that has long been among the 10 largest races in the United States.
All other design entries will be auctioned off to benefit 15 charities in Bridge Run's Charity Connection program.
The winning design will be unveiled on Aug. 20.
