Tom Ervin, a Republican running as a petition candidate for governor, made $608,114 last year, according to a story posted today on The State newspaper's website.
Much of the income was from a one-time withdrawal from his retirement account so he could buy three Anderson radio stations, the story said.
Ervin's taxable income last year was nearly $400,000 more than his average annual earnings during the previous 10 years, according to income-tax returns he provided The State.
Last year, Ervin earned nearly as much as Republican Gov. Nikki Haley and Democratic challenger Vincent Sheheen combined, $617,598.
