A fire destroyed a two-story house in the Cainhoy community Thursday afternoon.
The fire at 1024 Victoria Road was reported at 2:22 p.m., according to Cainhoy Rural Fire & Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Steve Goodwin. The neighborhood is off St. Thomas Island Drive near Daniel Island.
Crews from Cainhoy and the city of Charleston arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the house, he said.
Nobody was inside the home, and no injuries were reported.
The city of North Charleston also sent firefighters to help. Berkeley County EMS and the deputies also responded.
Crews brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes and were able to keep it from spreading to nearby houses. They stayed for more than four hours dousing hot spots.
The house is believed to be a total loss. The cause was under investigation.
