Independent gubernatorial candidate Tom Ervin is unequivocally saying an increase in the state gasoline tax will be part of his upcoming plan to fix South Carolina's crumbling roads and bridges, according to a story posted today on the Greenville News website.
Republican Gov. Nikki Haley has said she would veto any legislative proposal to increase the gas tax. Her Democratic opponent, state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, had initially said he wouldn't endorse an increase in the gas tax, but is now saying he wants all options on the table, according to the story.
