The commander of the Air Force's Air Mobility Command - Gen. Darren W. McDew, will visit Joint Base Charleston from Wednesday through Friday as part of what is being called an immersion tour of the base and its various units and missions.
McDew took command of AMC from Gen. Paul J. Selva in May, becoming the 11th AMC commander. He will interact with service members, families, Department of Department of Defense civilian employees, contractors and local civic leaders in a variety of venues at Joint Base Charleston.
In his previous assignment, McDew commanded the 18th Air Force. He also commanded the 14th Airlift Squadron in Charleston from 1997-1999.
