COLUMBIA - South Carolina continued to collect preseason recognition on the second day of college football's watch lists being released.
Sophomore center Cody Waldrop was one of 66 players named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List, which is awarded annually to the nation's top center. Senior tight end Rory Anderson was one of 40 players named to the Mackey Award Watch List, given annually to the nation's top tight end.
Clemson center Ryan Norton was also on the Rimingtom watch list.
When healthy, Waldrop has flashed major potential. The 6-foot-2, 309-pound youngster started six games for the Gamecocks last season, and he's expected to be South Carolina's starting center this fall. The key will be staying on the field. Waldrop also missed seven games because of injuries last season.
Anderson tore his triceps muscle during spring practices, but he'll be back in time for the start of the season. The injury threatened to derail a promising senior year. Anderson caught 17 passes for 235 yards and made nine starts.
South Carolina has now placed four players on preseason watch lists. Junior running back Mike Davis was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Monday. Sophomore receiver Pharoh Cooper was named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List, given to the nation's most versatile player.
