Berkeley County natives Andre and Bruce Ellington, both now playing in the National Football League, are holding the inaugural Ellington Elite Youth Football Camp from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Berkeley High School Stadium.
There is no charge for the camp for ages 6-16. Registration begins at 8 a.m., or participants can pre-register at ellingtonselitecamp.jimdo.com. There also are offerings for parents and guardians.
Andre Ellington, who played at Clemson, is now a running back for the Arizona Cardinals; Bruce Ellington, who played at South Carolina, was a fourth-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2014 NFL Draft. The cousins both played high school football at Berkeley High School.
In addition to football instruction the camp will offer: concussion awareness and proper tackling techniques; mentoring breakout sessions; anti-drug and violence sessions; preventative medical screening for diabetes, vision, blood pressure and Body Mass Index; health and wellness discussion groups; one-on-one nutritional consultations; healthy cooking tutorials; and healthy organic lunches.
