The North Charleston Police Department is continuing to investigate two shootings that occurred over the weekend, including one that left a 22-year-old man dead.

Miquel Garnell Shine II, of Trescott Street in North Charleston, died of a gunshot wound, according to the Charleston County Coroner's Office.

Police found Shine, also known as Happy, when they responded to a call on Alton Street just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an incident report. A second man, who identified himself as Shine's cousin, was also at the scene.

Officers found a spent shell casing near the victim and four more casings in an empty lot nearby, according to the report.

Witnesses reportedly told police that there was an argument between Shine and another person earlier Sunday, according to police spokesman Spencer Pryor. A short time later, a car pulled up and shots were fired at the man, Pryor said.

In another incident on Saturday, officers patrolling near West Montague Avenue and Ozark Street saw two men running from the Montague Oaks office park parking lot. One of the men flagged down the officer and said he had been shot while at the light at West Montague and Interstate 526 overpass, according to the incident report.

The man was shot in the right side, according to the report. He was taken to Medical University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The second man at the scene said he was walking on the sidewalk when he saw the victim, who was yelling that he had been shot, according to the report. He said he knew the victim, but not well.

The Jeep Cherokee that the victim was in had been struck by six bullets, the report said.

Anyone with information on either shooting should call North Charleston Police at 554-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
