It's social media day across the globe? How are you celebrating?
The day was created by the website Mashable five years ago "as a way to recognize the digital revolution happening right before our eyes."
The Charleston Hospitality Social Media Group has taken the reigns on the day locally. June 30th has been officially proclaimed Social Media Day by the City of Charleston and Mayor Joe Riley.
So how do you celebrate?
Well, there is a party tonight at The Alley on Columbus Street from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Everyone is invited, according to Ashley T. Caldwell of The Modern Connection, which is co-hosting the event. There will be awards, prizes and food and drink specials,
"This is kind of our Charleston way of celebrating' Social Media Day, Caldwell said. "You don't have to be a social media geek to participate. It's just a nice way to have a nice happy hour event and celebrate Charleston."
Caldwell said #chsyou has been extremely popular in just the three weeks since its inception.
"This has been a lot more successful and exciting then we thought," she said.
