The man who was shot in the leg Tuesday outside a North Charleston community center was chasing the man who shot him, according to police.
The shooting was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m. near the Felix Pinckney Community Center off Montague Avenue.
Four men were chasing a man and he fired at them, according to the police report released Wednesday. One of the four men chasing him was shot in the leg.
Witnesses told police the man who fired the gun ran through a cut in the fence near the playground and the four men left in a burgundy Mercury.
Officers stopped the vehicle and found that one of the men had been shot. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Officers found one shell casing near the community center.
Several bystanders saw the shooting and took off running, and one of them cut his leg jumping a fence to get away, according to the report.
Police were still looking for the gunman Wednesday.
