The Charleston region must have the skilled workforce to keep up with the demand for thousands of jobs planned to become available in the next several years, according to a new report.
The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce released a new report Wednesday showing the region is expected to add 25,000 jobs in the next five years.
The study was unveiled during the chamber's Competitiveness Summit Wednesday at Trident Technical College in North Charleston.
The event was intended to identify where potential gaps exist between the local educational institutions and the skills needed by employers. The summit also was intended to help local employers fill both the short- and long-term demand for workforce skills in the Charleston metro region.
