COLUMBIA - South Carolina is approaching a sellout of its football season ticket allotment for 2014, the university announced Wednesday morning.
South Carolina has sold 51,479 season tickets as of Tuesday afternoon, almost exceeding its 2013 total of 51,967. Season ticket capacity for home games is 55,000.
The only way fans can guarantee tickets to South Carolina's opener against Texas A&M on Aug. 28 or game against Georgia on Sept. 13 is through season tickets, according to the school. More than 1,600 Roost members of the Gamecock Club who have waited for seat selection will be able to choose seats beginning Thursday.
"We have seen tremendous interest in 2014 football season tickets from Gamecock Club members," senior associate athletics director Jeff Crane said. "We encourage all members to buy season tickets to ensure a ticket to all home games this season."
The Gamecocks sold out each of their seven home games in 2013. They've won 18 straight home games, the nation's longest streak.
