Guard Brandon Thompson of Gaithersburg, Md., has signed with The Citadel to complete a four-man recruiting class for basketball coach Chuck Driesell.
Thompson, 5-11 and 150 pounds, averaged 18.3 points for Covenant Life School last season, and averaged 31.6 points during the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference tournament, winning the tourney MVP award.
"I am excited about adding Brandon Thompson to this year's recruiting class," said Driesell. "Brandon is a fundamentally sound player with a tremendous competitive drive. His ability to shoot the ball along with his quickness makes him a major threat on the offensive end. He will certainly give us some much needed depth at the guard position."
Thompson also earned letters in soccer and golf at Covenant Life, and was team MVP in 2012-13.
Joining Thompson in the recruiting class that will report in the fall are Jake Wright, a 6-4 shooting guard from Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn.; Nadi Beciri, a 6-7 center/forward from Bergen Catholic in Hackensack, N.J.; and Tim Broom, a 6-0 guard from Sandalwood High in Jacksonville, Fla.
