Charleston police have released little information about a fatal, officer-involved shooting Friday night and angry and frustrated residents are using social media in an attempt to fill in the blanks.
A #justiceforjoba hashtag popped up on Twitter within hours of the 10 p.m. shooting at Bridgeview Village that left Denzel "Jaba" Curnell dead.
The hashtag has since been shared hundreds of times on social media, as has a change.org petition urging the State Law Enforcement Division to 'prosecute the officer who shot and killed' Curnell. Many of the users have tagged national media outlets in hopes that national attention will bring justice to Charleston.
But what are the facts?
Charleston police have referred questions to SLED, which investigates all officer-involved shootings, and social media got wrong some of the few facts that have been confirmed.
Some of the earliest tweets described the victim as a 13-year-old. The rumor was so widespread a local TV news anchor repeated it on his Twitter feed.
Speculation has been rampant but remember that little has been released or confirmed.
