MULLINS, S.C. - Authorities say a 68-year-old man driving a moped has been struck and killed by a Marion County deputy responding to a call.
Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson said Kenneth Killingsworth died at the scene of the wreck around noon Wednesday on U.S. Highway 76.
Authorities say the deputy who struck Killingsworth was on his way to back up a Highway Patrol officer on a call. The deputy's name has not been released.
Florence County deputies are investigating the wreck to avoid a conflict of interest.
