BEAUFORT - Lawmakers in Beaufort County are forming an anti-bullying task force after the suicide of a sixth-grade student earlier this year.
The Beaufort Gazette reports that (http://bit.ly/1r0s82kice) parents and friends say that bullying played a role in the April death of 12-year-old Celeste Wills.
Her mother Clarissa Wills told the county legislative delegation Monday that the task force can help save other children.
The panel proposed by Republican Rep. Shannon Erickson will have more than 20 members including school officials, law enforcement officers and government representatives as well as parents.
Representatives of state education, mental health and child service agencies will address the task force as will representatives of the attorney general's office.
