Sax player Mark Sterbank releases new CD
Saxophonist Mark Sterbank and fellow musicians will celebrate the release of Sterbank's new CD "Dayspring" at The Mezz on Thursday and Friday this week. Show times are 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended. The music charge is $15. (Students with valid I.D. pay $10 for the second set only.)
"Dayspring" consists of original compositions. It was recorded locally and features Charleston jazz regulars Charlton Singleton on trumpet, Richard White on piano, Kevin Hamilton on bass and Quentin Baxter on drums. The tunes represent a musical journey of 27 years, according to Sterbank, who performs often at The Mezz and is a regular member of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra. He is associate professor of music at Charleston Southern University.
The Mezz is located at 276 King St. Call 853-4515 for more information or to make a reservation.
