Coast Guard crews were searching an area about 30 miles off the coast of Charleston Sunday evening after a boater reported seeing an unmanned vessel adrift.
A boater reported seeing a 14- to 15-foot yellow McKee Craft boat at 5:44 p.m. drifting with the engine in the up position and no one on board, a news release said. Coast Guard officials do not know whether the boat broke free from its mooring and drifted out to sea or if someone may have fallen overboard, the release said.
A Coast Guard Cutter and a helicopter crew were en route to the area Sunday evening where the boat was spotted to search for the vessel and signs that anyone may have fallen overboard.
Anyone with information on the boat should contact Coast Guard Sector Charleston at 740-7050.
