CHARLESTON, S.C. - Flag Day is being observed at the Fort Sumter Visitor Center in downtown Charleston.

Events for children and their families are being held Saturday outside the visitor center at 340 Concord St., where people catch the boats to Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor. The events activities include, among others, designing flags, learning how to fold a flag and how to send messages with flags.

A law signed by President Harry Truman in 1949 established June 14th as Flag Day.
